(Naypyidaw, Myanmar) Singaporean National Male Basketball Squad Team won their third straight game when they crushed Cambodian Basketball Team with 99–43 at the basketball tournament of the 27th South East Asian (SEA) Games in December 13, 2013 at the Myanmar Time in evening.
Firstly, a 38–9 4th quarter scoring spree saw Singapore register its largest win so far which improved their win-loss record to 3–2.
A player Larry Liew had a game-high 21 points, including three 3-pointers while teammates Wong Wei Long and Wu Qingde joined him in double-digit scoring with 14 and 11 respectively. Singapore’s field goal shooting was 51 percent and they sank 10 of 37 3-point attempts (37%).
Singaporean Basketball team's captain Desmond Oh’s defense on Cambodia’s top scorer, Anthony Dar, who scored 41 points against Thailand, was key and the defense made its presence felt in the second and third quarter.
The Joe So, the team's assistant assistant coach explain that their strategy to put Des on Dar Anthony (Cambodia #7) worked and their rebounding in the 2nd and 3rd helped built the lead.
The team captain Desmond Oh also explained that, "I was very happy to secure the win and hope that this winning attitude can go on. I felt that everyone knew their roles and as long as we followed the game plan, we should be able to win."
