Australian swimmer Michael Klim had narrowed his focus to the 100m butterfly and 100m freestyle in 2006. He would have stiff competition for the 100m freestyle spots from Austraian premier sprinter Eamon Sullivan, veteran Ashley Callus and teenager Kenrick Monk — although Klim should be assured of a berth in the Australian 4 x 100 relay team.

He feeled the butterfly style was his best chance to again be internationally competitive and cautiously predicts even greater things at 2007 world titles or the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
"They're around the 48-mid times still," says Klim of the leading 100m Freestylers in 2006. His best of 48.18, set in 2000, is still an Australian record.
